Beyond the Test
Passing
the Bike Test is only the start of the great adventure of motorcycling. Deeper
learning begins when you’ve got your own machine and are making
your own decisions.
You can make your riding experience much more enjoyable, rewarding and
a lot less hazardous by getting further coaching. We can help organise
low cost, high quality training for you via our partners in the Tees area:
Handle It Or Lose It
Award
winning initiative aimed at riders of sports and high performance bikes.
Ther’s
a really useful website - www.handleitorloseit.com plus
there are local courses, based at our Billingham site. These
involve a weekend (2 full days) of practical riding, focusing on what
YOU need
to get the best out of your bike. The approach is informal and there’s
no end-of-course assessment, just lots of mileage with our team of
highly skilled instructors.
Courses run on a monthly basis from April - October. Call us for details.
Cleveland Advanced Motorcyclists (CAM)
Run
a series of courses during the spring, summer and autumn to prepare

Cleveland Motorcycling Training
Specialist post-test training:
• Sharpshooter Courses: each is a 3 hour module, working on a 1:1 basis.
• Returning Rider: been away from bikes for a while? This is a 2x3 hour refresher to get you back into it. Do it on your new pride and joy, or do it on one of our bikes before you buy.Cornering Clinic: develop your cornering skills. Really useful for all riders, but especially when you’ve upsized your bike.
Advanced Control: getting to grips with the dynamics of the bike, using counterbalance, counter steering and weight distribution to the best effect. High level skills for all riders, but particularly useful for bikes with a sports riding position. Includes a section on slow speed control.
Precision Overtakes: basic training, even on Direct Access, doesn't cover much in the way of higher speed overtakes. This is an essential skill to be able to make safe and efficient progress out on the open road. It’s all in the technique, and we can show you how!
Urban Survival: most bike accidents in towns and cities involve the rider as a victim of someone else’s error. This module concentrates on the defensive skills essential for survival in the urban environment. It also looks at making the most of the size and agility of your bike to make progress.
